"It's Another Day."
Hello. Happy September. Happy Mid-Autumn festival. 中秋节快乐。
Skye.pianist here. Back. It’s been a second.
“A lot has happened.” As they say. I haven’t posted here since January, but I have been writing, everyday. I have been discovering all kinds of astonishing challenges, contradictions, blessings. I have grown. I have stalled. I have fulfilled all kinds of promises. Perhaps broken some, forgotten a few. Still learning. Still laughing-crying-derping. Eating cooking baking delicious things. Making music. Ya know.
“How you live your day is how you live your life.” They say.
Well. This is a life.
Here we are, Saturday afternoon. In a new home. A new, still somewhat foreign city. My favourite ratatouille recipe roasting in the oven - the smell of warmth, generosity, gratitude - a fresh, lovingly-tended home garden. Harvest time. Sowing time. It’s all the same. Here are our tomato and mesclun and carrot and beet seeds sprouting. There is the Monet painting. The rubber tree. The mid autumn festival mooncakes (white lotus double egg yolk!). The mountain sunset rug under our Kawaii piano. The bouquet of roses just picked up by Skye’s Delivery Service. Because?
“Because - It’s another day.
Because - I will keep
my promises.”
I folded an origami heart. I drew a picture with dollar store watercolours. I’m baking chocolate lava cakes in cute muffin liners later.
Here’s my desk. There’s my tree friend.
This is a life. And it’s different. And it’s not what we could have every predicted or imagined. But I’m sure glad. Every single day. In all the tiny moments in between. That we get to choose this life. Ya know. That’s all.
Now my ipad’s charged, back to practicing.
Watching a concert later. Playing a concert tomorrow.
And so it goes…
More soon,
xoxo
All my relations,
Tong
