2022 Updates!!! OMG, LAMP, Verbier, Napoule Foundation

So excited to announce some news for the rest of 2022!

  1. Opera McGill: OMG Beta Lab (Montreal, Canada)
Finally! What immense privilege (and fun!) it’s been collaborating with the wildly imaginative composer Alice Ho on setting the libretto of “Labyrinth of Tears” to music. And now, director Jennifer Szeto and the wonderful Opera McGill team will be bringing these excerpts to life along with four other new thrilling operas by my colleagues!

  2. Lunenburg Academy of Music (LAMP): NOW Festival (Lunenburg, Canada)
Looking forward to returning to LAMP for another memorable summer, this time featuring a solo recital with repertoire by unique, diverse voices in honor of my recent ventures into art and social-cultural identity issues, as well as various collaborative performances. The NOW Festival features new music set to the words of L'nu Mi'kmaq poet Michelle Sylliboy.

  3. Verbier Festival: Summer Academy (Verbier, Switzerland)

This is another dream come true! I have been invited for a “Creative Project Development Residency” at the Verbier Academy this summer to work with various faculty including Pedja Muzijevic and Karen Zorn on innovative programming. I will be developing and workshopping a new interactive, impact-based project, details to be announced soon!

  4. La Napoule Art Foundation: Canadian Artist Residency (Mandelieu-la-Napoule, France)

Another recently received thrilling news! In November 2022, I will be joining 10 fellow Canadian artists across creative disciplines to spend one month on the Côte d’Azur. At the The Château de La Napoule, I will be developing my novel manuscript for “The [blank] Journal" and building it as a multimedia digital sound-novel.

More details for each project soon! :) Can’t wait to share all this art and life and love with you all~

Cheers,

Tong
