1385 Seymour St, Halifax

An evening of solo and chamber music by Fountain School faculty member Matthias McIntire, featuring his multi-media song cycle sing nature alive from my insides. Created in collaboration with soprano/pianist/poet Rachel Fenlon and filmmaker Jamie McMillan, the cycle explores a deep love for nature and growing fear of climate change. Blending a dream-to-nightmare narrative with sounds of nature, ocean waves, breath, and live vocal processing, the work seeks to dramatically reimagine the possibilities of art song in the 21st century.

Also on the program: Cathedral Grove (and the Gray Jay) for solo violin and live electronics; Seven Hummingbirds of the Mindo Valley, Ecuador for violin, percussion, and video; and the world premiere of Nocturne, ∆ Nocturne for solo piano, live electronics, and AI text and voice generation performed by pianist Tong Wang.
