Musician Bios
DoSi (formerly Duo Perdendosi) is a classical and contemporary duo formed by pianist Tong Wang and violinist Maitreyi Muralidharan. They use human-centric design and unconventional programming to foster spaces of connection and present works by immigrant and minority composers to honor their own immigrant backgrounds. Both coming from conservatory backgrounds, they recognized a need for classical and contemporary music to move away from convention and towards connection. In 2022, they created the Windwood Music Festival in Airdrie, Alberta to collaborate with like-minded artists and share how music connects land and people. DoSi embarked on their first tour, “Da Capo,” in April 2023 across seven cities in eastern Canada and the US. As residents at the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance in June 2023, they presented a musical storytelling program, “Wanting to Start Again.” In May 2024, they performed their second tour, “Dark Tales,” funded by the Canada Council for the Arts, in Hungary, Romania, and Canada. Maitreyi and Tong took part in Barbara Hannigan’s Equilibrium program in August 2024, following their third season leading the Windwood Music Festival. In October 2025 they toured “Wanting to Start Again” in Red Deer, Ottawa, Montreal, and Lunenburg. They are based in Montreal and regularly perform around Canada, collaborating with performers, composers, and multidisciplinary artists. DoSi continues to enjoy discovering a “fresh perspective on the familiar” alongside their audiences.
Tong Wang (tong-wang.com) is a Canadian pianist recognized for her innovative contributions to performance, research, and community engagement. Her work investigates the intersection of art with identity, culture, and contemporary issues. Tong’s performance highlights include collaborations with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Red Deer Symphony Orchestra, and ensembles throughout North America and Europe. A versatile artist, she has spearheaded the creation of a new horror anime opera “Labyrinth of Tears” alongside research into the aesthetics of "cuteness" in music, supported by the Canada Council, FRQSC, and SSHRC doctoral grants. Tong’s recent projects have explored multiculturalism, diaspora identity, and climate issues, including her solo tour “我们Us” in Lunenburg, Montreal, Basel, Verbier, and her tour with DoSi, “Homecoming”, “Wanting to Start Again”, and “Dark Tales” across Canada, US, and eastern Europe. In 2022, she co-founded the Windwood Music Festival in Airdrie, Alberta to bring classical chamber music to rural communities. In the past seasons, she performed with Barbara Hannigan, Lyrica Baroque, Xenia Concerts, and toured with the Wang-Dietz duo in China. In the upcoming seasons, Tong will be touring solo recitals with Debut Atlantic (2025/26) and Prairie Debut (2026/27). Tong is a graduate of the New England Conservatory and the Schulich School of Music. She continues to embark on solo and chamber tours across North America, Europe, and Asia, showcasing her dedication to fostering global connections through art.
Critically recognized as “an accomplished violin soloist,” (CVNC) Maitreyi Muralidharan is an east coast based musician, interdisciplinary artist, and researcher whose work intersects multiple artistic and scientific disciplines. They frequently premiere new music and tour with DoSi—a violin-piano duo which aims to celebrate new music, and music by underrepresented composers and Asian diaspora populations. The Duo just presented their program, “Dark Tales,” in May 2024 in Eastern Europe through an Arts Abroad grant funded by the Canada Council of the Arts. They were resident artists at the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance in 2023, and frequently perform in venues around Canada and the US. As a musician who has dealt with significant injury, Maitreyi has had to find their own paths in the field of classical and contemporary music, and in that process, has grown a deep appreciation and love for connecting with the unconventional. They aim to share this idea of connection with all walks of life—the idea that being a musician is far more than what is understood or seen, and that one of the greatest joys is fostering a sense of community that can happen any time music is made. Maitreyi co-founded the Windwood Music Festival in an effort to highlight these ideas and provide a space for classical musicians to learn how to incorporate community connection into their performing. Maitreyi is currently a PhD student in Applied Performance Science at McGill, where they study how metaphors facilitate understanding in music performance and pedagogy. They also assist musicians with injuries develop creative and sustainable playing practices.
In Concert for Cambodia (IC4C) is a musical youth-based initiative that supports The Peaceful Children’s Home (PCH) in Cambodia through proceeds raised at concerts. Created in 2006 by Ottawa violinist Laurent Côté (Ontario Youth Philanthropist Award 2009), IC4C has been awarded the Prix Reconnaissance Asie for outstanding cultural and humanitarian contributions to Southeast Asia. The Peaceful Children’s Home was created privately in 1994 for homeless Cambodian children returning from the refugee camps on the Thai border. PCH later accepted children who had been abandoned, orphaned, rescued from the street or from human trafficking. Since 2006, IC4C has provided support for medical care, food self-sufficiency and education. Over the years, many of the young PCH residents, who come from highly underprivileged backgrounds, have attained their dream of attending university, with assistance from IC4C. They have graduated in fields as diverse as law, agriculture, economics, business management, medicine, midwifery and tourism. IC4C is proud to give these talented young people a chance to realize their educational dream, to improve their lives, and to contribute to Cambodia’s development.

“My Big Prairie Sky” is a program born out of my love for the land. After immigrating to Canada, I lived for 10 years in Edmonton, and then another 10 in Airdrie. I (proudly, and humbly) call Alberta my home. Year after year, there is nothing that moves me more than returning to the rolling foothills of the Rockies – to the snow, the winter sun, the wildflowers in open fields, to that most enveloping, magnificent, ‘Big Prairie Sky’.
My ongoing mission to facilitate entry into classical, global, and contemporary music for my beloved home community shaped my artistic vision of this program. My experience with launching the Windwood Music Festival in Airdrie has taught me the challenges of bringing classical chamber music to rural Alberta. It has also offered me a deeper insight into the needs, interests, and stories of this audience, which continues to guide me in my strategies for programming and curating an engaging, relatable, and appealing musical experience.
The repertoire is designed especially for Prairie audiences – a bit of the familiar, a bit of the fresh, something for everyone to grab onto no matter their musical language or background. The program captures the soundscapes of the Prairies through its changing seasons – fresh blooms of Spring, rowdy rodeo (and secretive romance!) mid-Summer, introspective solitude late Fall, and unrelenting snowstorms in the dead of Winter. Along the way, I will be offering transcriptions of recognizable folk songs by Canadian icons Joni Mitchell and Neil Young.

Windwood musicians play a piano quintet program at the Red Deer First Thursday Concert Series.
‘Wanting to Start Again’ is a violin-piano concert experience that addresses the complicated and difficult feelings that arise when living in a world being ravaged by climate change. This program arose from a feeling of hopelessness and grief fuelled by the fires that happened in Banff and Halifax. We decided to create a space for audiences to sit with their feelings and ask themselves: how do we choose to start again when we are at our lowest? Our first iteration of this project was to great success at Duo Perdendosi’s 2023 residency at the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance, and has since been performed at the Ethnographical Museum of Transylvania in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
The Windwood Music Festival "Wanting to Start Again: Opening Concert" kicks off the festival's fourth season. This multimedia, classical, and contemporary concert explores themes of man vs nature, taking us through journeys of land, water, machine, and... a carrot revolution?? Through the works of Barbara Croall, Vivian Fung, Gabriela Smith, Florence Reece, Reid Conteras Woelfle, Edward Elgar, and Aaron Copland the Windwood musicians will explore what it means to be alive alongside nature.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
Show begins at 7:00 p.m.
This project not only bridges Chinese and Canadian cultures by advocating for a Chinese-Canadian composer and commissioning a new work by a Hong Kongese female composer, but it also provides an opportunity to explore my personal identity as a China-born Canadian artist. By returning to China and greeting the land and stories of my parent’s childhood, their “old home”, I can further explore, understand, and rediscover my roots, paying homage to a long lineage of family history and heritage. I will be visiting the childhood cities of my parents and retracing their steps before they left China in search of a better future. This process will be deeply impactful and valuable as I unravel stories and challenges faced by a diasporic population and strengthen a connection to my Chinese background.
